par-tay

Last weekend was our PURPLE themed party in honour of Hannu's birthday, my birthday, and Hannu's graduation.

Alas, it seems that buying purple, well, anything, is a bit more challenging here that we had expected. Especially when you decide the theme the day before. Hmm. Never mind - all was okay!!

There were HEAPS of people in our apartment, I don't know how many... but the balcony felt coooool in comparison!!

Lots of lovely friends came - some of whom took the PURPLE theme futher than others...

We got PURPLE house gifts and everything!
!

All in all, a great PURPLE party! Thanks to all who came and helped us to celebrate - special thanks to those who stayed until breaky :)

25 years

This week was the silver anniversary of my existence :)

Monday night I invited a few friends around for dinner... yep I cooked! Without an oven, microwave, food processor or electric beater nonetheless! Quite proud of my efforts :)

The food turned out fine, but most importantly the company was great! Thanks so much guys for making my birthday so much fun - I felt so special. I'm really lucky to have met you this last year -you're all stars! :)

Tuesday was Farah's birthday, and Benny sent us a cake at the office - so sweet!

Crazy week

This past week has been SO jam-packed I've hardly had a moment to myself, but it's been fun so I won't complain! A few highlights included:

Vincent was in Penang for a conference so we caught up for dinner before his flight back to China. Was so great to reminisce about the old days, to catch up on the goss, and chat about the year he & his team have ahead of them. I still get pretty excited discussing the organisation that I poured so much of my heart & soul into, and was so proud to hear the same passion in Vincent. I have great confidence in him as a person and a leader and can't wait to see more great things happening in AIESEC Mainland of China this year! :)

A client is re-branding and had a photo shoot for their materials. They wanted some "multi-racial" folks so our boss volunteered myself, Farah & Jeff. We had our hair and make-up professionally done and then spent hours posing for action shots with a few members of their staff. It was an interesting experience, not my ideal way to spend an afternoon during a hectic work week, but something that made an impression on me! Oh, and you can call me "Sarah" from now on if you like, my stage name. The photographer called me that a few times and then just gave up I think.

I was pretty tired by Friday night but the prospect of dinner at Jalan Alor was just too good to refuse - think a street full of Chinese restaurants and stalls with really good, pretty cheap food and plastic tables and chairs that spill past footpaths and out onto the road. I'm glad I went, the turnout was great, and we carried on for drinks afterwards (of course). The beer tower was an obvious choice, which led to "what if the KL Tower was made of beer" and "it'd get too warm" then "you'd need an ice shaft" and finally "it'd need to be enclosed so it would't dilute the beer". We thought we were pretty clever. Turns out that the folks at Carlsberg aren't too stupid either...

Show me the money!!!

I went to a training day and spied this slightly creepy little guy next to the door. Apparantly they bring wealth into the business - it reminds me of the Japanese cat statues, but I know which ones I think are cuter!
