ChunJie Hao!!

Happy Chinese New Year/Spring Festival to all those of you who celebrate it! Today is the first day of the Year of the Dog, which I'm quite excited about, cos it's my year - the year that I was born in! Unfortunately it's too hot to wear my red 'fu' (luck) socks, and I don't have any red belts or underwear... but hey, pink is close, and I'm sure I'll be lucky this year anyway, I've decided to be! :) Oh and I found my Chinese horoscope for this year here:

"Those born in the year of the dog are advised to take advantage of the repetition of their birth symbol in this New Year. Learn from lessons of the past, but put them behind you and forge ahead. Look for opportunities to turn dreams into reality but keep a close eye on finances. Dogs work best as a team, so encourage your companions to join with you in new possibilities. Your canine faithfulness will show in honesty and loyalty that will build new relationships and make old relationships stronger. Your bravery will be rewarded in many ways. "

Hmmm not bad at all :)

Wishing you health and happiness in the Year of the Dog!

I have a job!!!

Yes I'm proud to say that I will now have work every week, work with people, and have regular income :) Life is indeed good. It's not glamorous... front-of-house at Oporto, a chicken burger place in a posh food court. BUT the food is good, the people are nice, and I get to WORK - yay!

Fresh start

I saw Evane's new AND old blogs and was TOTALLY inspired by the way they look! Thus this new, fresh, potentially *boring* template that I will attempt to make more EXCITING in the coming days, weeks, or even months - it might take a while, as my skills in this area are VERY limited!!

Stay tuned folks!!

PS Don't you like how this template uses the WHOLE screen? How sensible :) I'm impressed already, and I haven't even started yet!

Blog Word Verification

What is with this stuff? I really struggle to work out what the letters are sometimes, and once every 3 or 4 times I get it wrong!!! The "n" and "h", "u" and "v", "a" and "d" look so similar when they're all wiggly and out of proportion. Is it just me? Am I that stupid? Are the auto spam programs so smart that we need this level of scribble to be able to trick them? Life is tough...

Ahhh it's the weekend :) Normally I don't really care much, cos it's much the same as other days, but whenever I work all week I appreciate again what it means to have a weekend :D It's definitely worth working for!

Oh and random thought - I was doing temp work this week, but hardly saw a computer (well, I did spend some time putting some into boxes...). It was weird, I got to do heaps of different things, and lots of it was physical work, like breaking up cardboard boxes (fun!!) and cleaning out cupboards (less fun..). I was super tired every night, but I quite enjoyed doing stuff that required no computer, no desk, and problem-solving of a different type. Like, 'How can I get these million folders to fit into this space thats, well, less than that of a million folders?' and 'How do computers go back into the boxes they came in?' (harder than it sounds!). Anyway, it was a refreshing change, and hopefully my muscles will start appearing any day now :)

Today I'm going furniture shopping with Emily, cos she's got a job teaching in the country and needs stuff to put in her house there!!! I consider myself highly qualified for this role, as we're looking at couches today, and I'm great at sitting, lying, and generally lounging around on couches!! But man, I'm soooo jealous, I love buying stuff for houses, I want a place of my own too!! Our place in Beijing was small and we didn't really have money to buy stuff for it, but despite this we seemed to visit IKEA quite often! Too bad IKEA in Adelaide isn't open yet, but I'm sure we'll find plenty of other furniture places to check out.

Anyway, must be off - many couches to be sat upon!!! :)

2006!!!

So I had a quiet New Years Eve and got up super early this morning to watch the sun rise. Alas, I didn't get to actually see the sun let alone its dramatic rising! It was pretty grey most of the morning, and it's definitely grey and raining now! But it was pretty peaceful watching these gorgeous clouds. Until the drunk women staggered into the park also to splash around in the kiddies wading pool....

Then I went down to the beach. It was grey, but so peaceful, with hardly anyone around. I could think, and also not think. I left feeling... a small sense of achievement, peace of mind, and quiet excitement about the year to come :) A lovely start to the New Year.

Happy New Year everyone! :)
