Professional life - PERFECT!!

This week got off to a great start professionally.

It's my first week at my new job and it's very cool, not least because:
  • I can feel the energy - it's great to work with people who care so much about what they are doing (yay for the NGO sector!)
  • I'm learning heaps - I have very little experience in women's health or human rights, so it's very thought-provoking and the learning curve is steep
  • It looks like I'll get to work on a good variety of stuff over the next few months - no chance of boredom!
  • The people are lovely - I always get the nice people, must just be lucky :D
And then I found out that I'll be off to Canberra next year as part of the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade grad programme - YAY! Something I've dreamed of doing for a long time and never expected I'd be able to make it happen!

I think I've slept with a smile on my face the last 2 nights...

Congratulations Flic!!! That's great news! I'm so pleased to hear you got into DFAT - I can't imagine anyone better suited to the job!

I've just spent the past 3 months working in Barton down the road from DFAT. I loved Canberra - as strange as that may seen - it's a funny little town but there's just something about it that I liked alot.

I saw your blog post about being in Adelaide a couple of weeks ago. I just got back and must have just missed you! Such a shame. I'll be here until next Friday and then head to the UK to start more study. I can't wait!

Anyway, congratulations again and enjoy these last few months of warmth in Malaysia!
