Homeless
I served a homeless guy at work last week. It was kinda interesting - I've never really had that much interaction with an obviously homeless person in Australia before. He was really nice, and kinda excited about his meal, and keen to chat (maybe the only other people that talk with him much are other homeless people?) and he smelt a bit, but he was very polite and somehow quietly confident, as though it wasn't anything unusual for him to buy chicken and chips in the food court. His shopping trolley was doubled in size by all the bags of stuff hanging off of it, and he had a wallet with plenty of money in it - to be honest i was wondering where it all came from, it must be hard for people without an address to collect benefits easily. In any case it was a thought-provoking experience, I know that there's plenty of homeless people in Adelaide, but most of them are well-hidden, and the others just sort of blend into the background if you don't have 'reason' to interact with them.

Hi Flic,
Sounds like an interesting experience. It's weird isn't it, you see homeless people all the time but how often do you actually sit and chat to them and wonder how they got there? The guy sounds like he was an interesting character even though he smelt!
